Unfortunately, George R.R. Martin, the author of Fire & Blood, confirmed that it will probably be April 2024 before we see season 2. The author said this at the announcement of The Rise of the Dragon, in a conversation with David Anthony Durham for a Celebration of Targaryen History, the author addressed the eagerly awaited season 2.
Most recently, Martin, García, and Antonsson also published The Rise of the Dragon in 2022. This book chronicles the rise of the Targaryen empire, complete with 150 new official illustrations. So, while HBO isn't quite ready to let go of its dragon-laden cash cow, it's worth looking back on what inspired George R.R. Martin to write A Song of Ice and Fire in the first place.

In a conversation with David Anthony Durham to announce his new book, The Rise of the Dragon, Martin says, “When it became clear that we were going to do the Dance of the Dragon show, but that ultimately became House of the Dragon […] we wanted a book to go with that, and I already had the seeds of the book from material that was in the world of Ice and Fire and from the novellas I’d JZo6u.
