Options. You are getting the red blinking lights on the PS3 because it is over heating. You might still be able to prevent more damage from occurring if you take apart the PS3 and clean out the fan. For some reason, one of the white plastic parts was stuck. With a little bit of force, I put it back in place. Then, I cranked the mechanism manually a few times, without a disk at first then with a disk to make sure that it can go in and out without any issues. It's like it tries to eject, gets caught, and then gets stuck. After I try ejecting it the PS3 thinks its empty and that there's no disc inside. When I restart, the PS3 reseats the partially ejected disc and then it can see it again. Edit: Also I tried doing drive reset function without a disc inside of it.
